It is Day 2 of my 30 Day Blog Challenge and I would like to share a piece of a short story I started on not too long ago. Everyone has heard of the story about the poor girl falling in love with the rich man but what if the roles were reversed? Continue reading and find out.

Their eyes met for the first time on a cold December afternoon. They were both young at the time. The light was red. He looked out the window of a crowded city bus, a shiny black Rolls Royce pulls up beside him and catches his attention. Then he sees her. The girl in the back seat dressed in black staring at her phone. He stared at her for a moment in awe. Her beauty was unparalleled, straight black hair fell down her back and her skin was as smooth and white as porcelain. Then she looked up and away from her phone. It was clear to him that she had been crying, concerned he continued to look at her, till she looked up at him and suddenly their eyes had locked on each other. Hers with a single tear still in tack and his wide open in surprise and wonder. That moment only lasted a split second before she turned her head and the car started moving. The light had turned green.

Years later the young boy was now a young man, fresh out of college and struggling to make ends meet. He was working three part-time jobs, trying to pay off his student loans while looking for a more stable job as well. He lived by himself in a small single room apartment on the far end of the city. Rent was cheap there, so he didn’t mind the long bus rides to get to the heart of the city.

It was 9 pm and Steven had just finished his shift at the cafe. His next job didn't start until 11, so he went to the convenience store across the street to get himself a late dinner. Ramen noodles again tonight?, he thought to himself, as he paid for his food at the counter, I wonder how long I can keep this up? No, I can do it, by next month I should be starting a good paying job and be able to eat good again. That's right just one more month! OK, let's eat! After reassuring himself, he downed his cup ramen and headed to his next job.

Every night he worked as a taxi driver for a private company that only served the elites in the city or anyone who was dumb enough to pay the ridiculously high prices to take a ride in a Rolls Royce. But since most of the Elites in the city already had nice cars and personal drivers, the service was mostly used by young heirs and heiress of major companies, and usually only when they were too drunk to get home on their own. Dealing with young, rich, drunk people in the dead of night, wasn't Steven's ideal job, but the pay was good and sometimes they will leave him a nice tip, so he endured.

His shift started out like any other, get a call, meet the person, drive them home, and repeat. At the end of his shift after dropping off his last customer, he was on his way back to the company to return the car and clock out. As he neared the company he got a call for one more. Reluctantly he took it, and off he went.
