Welcome to Day 17, Everyone! Heres another short story, hope you enjoy!

“Hello, my name is Tom Dickens, and I’ll be your marriage Counselor. I’m guessing you are John and Mary Jackson, correct?” said a short bald man in his 50’s as he came into the room of the marriage counselor’s office. John and Mary Jackson have been married for 5 years now. But lately, they have been arguing a lot. They were recommended to see a marriage counselor by their Pastor. “So John, that’s some bruise you got there on your eye, what happened?” John and Mary look at each other in silence, “Don’t tell me she did this,” he referenced to John's black eye.

“It was an accident,” says Mary.

“What accident, you were aiming right for my eye,” Exclaimed John.

“Okay, okay, calm down. Why don’t we start from the beginning, shall we,” said Tom, “Ok, so who wants to start us off?” John and Mary just looked at each other in silence once more. “Great, John you start,” Tom said impatiently.

John hesitated before starting to tell the story, first looking at Mary, then taking a deep breath, he began, “ Well what had happened was, I got home yesterday evening and, “

“He was drunk.” Interrupted Mary.

“Not now Mary, John is telling the story,” says Tom, “Continue John.”

“Ok so I get home yesterday evening, and yes I had had a couple of drinks but only because it was a really tough day at work and my coworkers invited me to go with them. Anyways when I get home and found her sleeping on the couch.”

“I was waiting for him to get home and fell asleep.” Mary interrupted again.

“Mary, shhh,” said Tom.

“I knew that she had been waiting for me so I decided to take her upstairs to our room because it would be more comfortable to sleep on the bed than on the couch. As I’m trying to carry her she wakes up with a fright and starts yelling at me to put her down.”

“He scared me, plus I didn’t want him to drop me, he’s not that strong you know,” added Mary abruptly, “Besides I was still mad at him to form the day before.”

“Wait, what happened the day before?” asks Tom.

“The day before we had gotten into an argument,” explained Mary.

“What was the argument about?” asked Tom.

“It was,” Mary started.

“It was stupid” interrupts John.

“No it wasn’t,” said Mary, tears coming to her eyes. “I wanted to tell you something, but you---you just wouldn’t listen to me. You never listen to what I have to say.”

“That’s because you always say things that don’t make sense and are irrelevant to me.” John shooted back.

“Irrelevant! I’ll show you irrelevant!” Mary yelled. She stood up and walked towards the door.

“Where do you think you're going?” John called after her.

“To the doctors! I’ll tell them that I don’t want it anymore,” yelled Mary, tears running down her cheeks.

“Don’t want what anymore?” asked Tom.

“The baby!” said Mary as she slammed the door shut and started running down the hall.
