Day 21- Crawling Out Of Comfort Zone

Hi Everyone! As the days pass by and we get closer to the end of this 30Day Blog Challenge, I feel like I've gotten to do a few things I haven't been comfortable doing before. The main thing I've done that I haven't been comfortable doing before is putting myself out there. I'm typically a very shy and timid introvert, I don't go out very much, or interact with people very often, and this was before COVID-19. I'm also a very soft-spoken person who shakes uncontrollably if she ever needs to talk in front of a crowd or even a small group sometimes. With that being said no wonder I'm a writer, right? But even as a young writer I've never posted any of my stories or poems for the world to see like I am doing now. Before this blog, the only people who read what I wrote were my close friends and family and they would always try to encourage me to put it out there for other people to see but I was afraid that no one would like it. So by simply creating this blog was already a big step for me.

This is a monologue/prose I wrote back in High School, but I am just now understanding and trying my best to live by what High School me had already briefly discovered but forgotten over time.

Tear it open

Good things happen to those who wait,

But how can one just sit around and wait?

Doing nothing and letting others decide.

Don’t you get impatient?

Don’t you ever disagree?

Will you always go with the flow and accept things as they are?

You say you want to change,

Yet you do nothing about it.

You say it’s hard,

You say you’re not ready,

You make all these excuses,

Then complain when things don’t go your way.

If you really want to change and have things go your way,

You have to get out of your seat and change them yourself.

Speak your mind; tell them how you really feel,

Don’t just lock it up inside.

No one but you can do it.

You are the only one that truly knows what it is you want in life,

So you better hurry up cause your time is running out.

If you stay like this forever, you’ll be left behind.

Forget about the past, it's over.

Don’t worry about the future, it's not here yet.

The present, however, is a gift

And sometimes you have to tear it open to see what’s inside.
