Hello Everyone, so a couple of days ago I mentioned that my new "challenge" for the month of May was to take better care of my face and appearances. Since today is May 1st, what better day to start, right? Since COVID-19 is persisting to stick around I got to find new ways to keep myself busy. We still got 3 days left in the 30Day Blog Challenge but I'm reading to jump into the next thing, lol.

So I was looking at all the face care products I already had to see what I can use, what I can throw out, and what I may need to buy. Turns out I had way more products then I thought I did. After throwing out some things that had expired or seemed too empty, I selected a few products to use just for this May Face Care Challenge I'm getting myself into. I've separated the products by functions, so cleansers, moisturizers, masks, and miscellaneous. But also by which products are going to be used in the morning vs night.

Morning Cleansers

These are the facial cleansers that I will be mostly be using in the mornings. I like the Cetaphil brand I've used it for years and I feel like it works for me. I just started using the Hydrating Cleanser by Dr. Denese and I do feel like it gets the job done so no complaints. Both these cleansers are nice and gentle and leave the face clean and oil-free. For my new facial care routine, I have decided to alternate between the two when washing my face in the morning. The reason I'm not using just one cleanser is that since they are both designed to help with two very different things, one removes oil while the other hydrates, using them both alternatively I won't be only hydrating or only drying out my face, but both almost simultaneously.

Morning moisturizers

For my morning moisturizers, I have selected two Vitamin Shot Serums by Physicians Formula, the orange one helps with brightening, while the purple one helps with wrinkles. Although I'm only 23 and don't really have any wrinkles to worry about yet it doesn't hurt to start early with trying to prevent them. Since they are made by the same brand I just mix both serums on my hand and apply them simultaneously. The other moisturizer I will be using in the mornings is Sunblock. I took a picture of the sunblock that I currently have but any sunblock will work I'm sure. But since I have an extremely oily face, I made sure that the sunblock was oil-free.

Why sunblock as a moisturizer you ask? Good question. I once got a facial at a spa for my birthday and they told me that UV rays are the face's enemy and a large reason why we get wrinkles. Not 100% sure if that's all true, to be honest, but it sounds believable. And adding a little sunblock on my face can't hurt so why not.

Miscellaneous

Throughout the day I also plan on using these products above kind of as needed. Micellar water is good if you want a quick clean. Some even say that it can be used as make remover but I don't agree (speaking from experience). The reason two are up here is that I keep one in my bathroom and one in my room so anytime my face feels dirty I find it easily. Also when using micellar water I've found it easier to use a cotton pad rather than a cotton ball but either work. The other miscellaneous product is the Aloe+Rosewater facial spay by PearlEssence. This is a new product for me. First time I'm using any facial spray so not much I can say about it now. From what I've read it's supposed to help with keeping your face hydrated and refreshed throughout the day.

Night Cleansers

For my night cleansers, I will be using scrubs. The Biore scrub I have is a daily scrub that doesn't scrape too much at your face. I like this scrub because it leaves my face feeling cool and refreshed as if I were breathing through my pores. The St. Ives scrub is not a daily scrub and it really does scrape at your face so I'll only be using this one once a week on Tuesdays. Why Tuesdays? Keep reading and you will find out.

Masks

After washing your face what better time to apply a face mask. Here are some masks that I will be using in the next passing nights. The most important of these masks is the little brown bottle on the bottom right, that is the peeling serum I talked about in the last post and will be trying out for the next month. Since the first time I used the peeling serum was on a Tuesday I will continue with that schedule for the rest of the month. This is why I'll only be using the St. Ives scrub on Tuesdays to make sure I get a good clean surface for the serum to work its magic, fingers crossed.

On non-Tuesday nights I will alternate between the other three products pitched above. The two overnight masks from The Creme Shop are also new to me, so I will be trying them out as well this month. The pack on the top left is just an example of a face sheet mask that has become popular in the last year or so. I will be using a variety of these on nights I'm feeling too lazy to put an actual mask on, lol. I'm sure we all have those days so these sheet masks are perfect for that particular reason.

Two More Things

Two more products I will be using as part of my nighttime routine. The first is a moisturizer by Clean&Clear that I will use after my sheet masks and peeling serum. I don't plan on using it on nights I use the overnight masks because well, they're overnight, lol.

And the second one is something I've been using for a few years now and it works wonders so I highly recommend it. It's not so much the brand but the ingredients in this breakout treatment. Benzoyl Peroxide. This particular ingredient I have seen show up in a number of treatments that I have used in the past and they have all worked. Whenever my face gets really irritated and those big angry red ones start appearing here and there, you know what I'm talking about, Benzoyl Peroxide has been my best friend through those times. He's saved me a number of times, lol. Of course its not instant but usually if I apply it on a big pimple before bed every night by the 3rd night it's usually gone or at least not big and angry anymore.

So that's pretty much it for my new face care routine. As for my 30Day Blog Challenge I know I'm a little late getting my post published since it is 1 am but better late than never I guess. Hope this post inspires you to also start, restart, continue, or improve your face care routines. I will post pictures of how my face is doing weekly to see if any improvements have been made. I am no beauty expert I'm just a girl willing to try new things to see if they improve her face, lol. So if you would like to join me in the May Face Care Challenge you can follow me on Twitter so we can share pics, tips, ideas, and recommendations on what we have found that works for us and what doesn't.

Thanks for reading and I'll see y'all next time!
