Day 26- The Tears in Your Eyes part6.1

Hey Everyone, finally came out with another part to my story The Tears in Your Eyes. This part is what comes after the chase scene from last time. And if you're new and would like to read it from the beginning click here. Other than that enjoy.

"Why are you here, too?" Sapphire whispered, "I'm the one they want."

"Yea, but if they find me they're gonna know you're close by. It's better if we both disappear. Now shhh," Steven whispered back.

The trunk was dark and cramped. Steven and Sapphire both struggled to get comfortable. No matter how much they tried to avoid it they touched each other. Giving in to the situation, they both laid on their sides facing each other, though it was too dark for them to tell.

They could hear the car doors slamming shut and the heavy footsteps of the men as they came closer, picking up rocks with their worn-out black leather boots. As they approached both Sapphire and Steven couldn't help but hold their breath. The sounds become louder and louder be the second but inside the truck, it left like hours. The anticipation had both of them on edge.

"Go on the other side Dewy," Chew said. Dewy nodded and the two men approached the car cautiously. When they reached the car and saw that is was empty Dewy was disappointed and Chewy was mad. "Damn it!" Chewy kicked the car and started pacing around in circles murmuring to himself in rage. After seeing Chewy reaction Dewy copied him. He took his two big hands and started hitting the top of the car continuously while screaming like a caveman gone hunting. Noticing he wasn't doing enough damage he picked up a big rock and was about to throw it when "What the hell are you doing! Are you trying to let the world know we're here?"

With every hit to the car Sapphire jumped and desperately tried to control her screams. Out of fear she buried her face in Steven's chest with her eyes shut tightly.

She's such a scaredy-cat, but if she screams we'll definitely get found out.

Steven wrapped his arms around her head to help minimize the sound of the noises. The once trembling Sapphire seemed to have calmed down a bit.

There was a loud sound of something falling in the distance, the men believed it to be their targets trying to hind somewhere in the construction site so they went off to look around.

"I think they're leaving," Steven whispered.

"Really?!" Sapphire said louder than she intended, as she popped her head up.

"Shhhh," he emphasized quietly, "They're not gone for good just away from the car, they'll be back," he said pushing her head back towards his chest where she was quieter.

"Let go you're suffocating me!"

"Shhhh! Keep your voice down."

"Fine fine, just keep your spit to yourself," Sapphire finally began to whisper again. "How do you know they're coming back?"

"I heard them saying something about looking around. They might think we tried to make a run for it," he said quietly. "Plus you can kinda hear the third car still running if you listen closely."

Sapphire stopped for a second and tried her best to listen. " This is our chance to escape! What are we waiting for?" She exclaimed as quickly as possible. 

"I don't think that's a smart idea, we don't know when they might come back." 

Sapphire thought for a minute, "if only there was a way to see what's going on outside." This gave Steven an idea, he started fidgeting around, bumping into Sapphire. "Hey, what are you doing?" 

"Looking for my phone, I know I brought it in here with me," Just then his phone started to ring, and the noise from behind Sapphire. The phone was faced down since there was no light to help indicate its location. Sapphire afraid that the noise might give off their location rushed to try and find the phone.
